John Lincoln Sr. was born on 3 May 1716, in Freehold Township, Monmouth, New Jersey. His father, Mordecai Lincoln Jr., was 30 and his mother, Hannah Bowne Salter, was 23. He married Rebekah Flowers on 5 March 1742, in Berks, PA. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 7 daughters. He lived in Caernarvon Township, PA in 1748 and Shenandoah Valley, Dunmore, Virginia in 1768. He died in November 1788, in Linville, Virginia at the age of 72, and was buried in Lincoln Family Cemetery, Linville, Virginia.
